PTI seeks allies' support for Imran Khan's release
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is working with its allies to resolve the tensions between the party and the military establishment. The goal is to create a better political environment for PTI and help its jailed founder, Imran Khan. Sources say PTI is encouraging its allies, including leaders from the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, to persuade Khan to tone down his rhetoric. They want him to calm down and support authorities in fighting terrorism. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, a senior PTI leader, confirmed that discussions are ongoing but declined to share specific details with the media. A YouTuber close to PTI reported that Gohar asked for help in lowering tensions, but the alliance leaders were hesitant. While PTI considers launching protests against the government after Eid, some leaders prefer to avoid the aggressive politics of previous years. They believe this confrontational approach has not benefited the party or Khan. Many within PTI feel that if Khan moderates his statements and the party's social media activities are controlled, it could improve relations with the military. As Pakistan faces rising terrorism, PTI leaders think it’s important for the party to show unity with state institutions in combating this issue.
