Pune court grants bail to public misconduct co-accused
A court in Pune has granted bail to Bhagyash Oswal, a 22-year-old accused in a public misconduct case. The incident occurred on March 8 in Shashtrinagar of Yerawada. Oswal was with his friend, Gaurav Ahuja, when Ahuja stopped his BMW car in the middle of the road and urinated in public view. He also exposed himself to morning walkers, including a woman. Both men were arrested by the police. Oswal's lawyer argued that he did not participate in the misconduct and was just sitting in the car. Only the section of the Prohibition Act related to illegal substances was non-bailable, while other charges were bailable. The assistant public prosecutor opposed Oswal’s bail, claiming he might tamper with evidence. However, the court noted that Oswal's involvement seemed limited and that he cooperated with the investigation. The court then released him on bail with certain conditions. Oswal must pay a personal bond of Rs50,000 and provide a surety for the same amount. He is required to cooperate with ongoing investigations and cannot leave the country without permission. The court is still waiting for a response from the police regarding Ahuja's bail application.
