Pune engineer arrested for murdering his young son
A 38-year-old software engineer, Madhava Sadhurao Tiketi, has been arrested for allegedly killing his three-and-a-half-year-old son in Pune. Police say he slit the child's throat with a knife following ongoing disputes with his wife, Swaroopa. Tiketi, who lost his job two months ago, had been living with his family in Chandannagar since 2016. The couple often quarreled about domestic issues, which may have contributed to the tragic incident. Swaroopa, a homemaker, reported her son Himmat missing after Tiketi did not return home with him. Around 12:30 PM on Thursday, Tiketi left their apartment with Himmat on his motorcycle. When he did not return by early Friday morning, Swaroopa contacted the police. They tracked Tiketi’s cellphone and found him at a lodge, inebriated and alone. Himmat was not with him. During the police questioning, Tiketi was evasive at first, but he eventually confessed to the murder. He led officers to a secluded area where Himmat's body and the knife were found. Tiketi had purchased the knife and other items before committing the crime. The authorities were able to recover the murder weapon and the motorcycle used in the incident. The child's body has been sent to Sassoon General Hospital for examination. Investigators have noted that there were no surveillance cameras in the area where the crime took place, but the shopkeeper confirmed seeing Tiketi earlier.
