Pune police seek evidence in techie's son's murder
Pune police are focused on finding evidence in a shocking case involving a software engineer who allegedly killed his three-and-a-half-year-old son. The engineer, Madhava Rao Tiketi, was arrested after a violent incident linked to ongoing disputes with his wife. Tiketi, 38 years old and an MTech graduate from IIT Bengaluru, was taken into custody on Friday. Authorities presented him to a court, which remanded him in custody until March 28. Police are working to recover blood-stained clothing and trace a knife used in the crime. According to police, Tiketi bought sharp blades, antiseptic liquid, and lollipops shortly before the incident. He reportedly used a knife and a blade to fatally injure his son. After the attack, he left the scene on a bike. Police are trying to get him to provide information about where he obtained the knife, but he has been uncooperative. A preliminary postmortem report indicated that the child's death was caused by a throat cut. Police recovered evidence from a lodge where Tiketi was found. He was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when apprehended. Surveillance footage showed Tiketi at a bar before the incident and also captured his actions after. He is seen buying blades and later riding his bike alone, suggesting a possible attempt to dispose of evidence. The police are investigating his movements and have collected witness statements to establish a timeline of events. In court, the prosecution argued for continued custody for further investigation, including recovering Tiketi's blood-stained clothes and knife. The case is being taken seriously, with laws invoked to address the disappearance of evidence.
