Pune's PMPML plans to add 1,500 new buses

Pune's public transport system, operated by the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), faces several challenges. Plans are in place for acquiring additional electric and CNG buses to improve the fleet. Women conductors have raised concerns about their work conditions, noting they sometimes receive heavy duties. They request more support from management to address their needs effectively. The PMPML has also launched an app for commuters, but many users report issues with its functionality. Commuters express frustration with multiple bus transfers, outdated vehicles, and a grievance system that doesn’t effectively address their complaints. Improvements, such as better payment systems and clearer communication about bus stops and service disruptions, are necessary to enhance the overall experience for passengers.
