Punjab bans public gatherings ahead of PTI protest
The Punjab government has imposed Section 144, banning public gatherings and protests from November 23 to November 25. This decision aims to prevent disruptions ahead of a planned protest by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on November 24. In addition to Punjab, Islamabad has also enforced Section 144 for two months, limiting gatherings to no more than five people. The federal capital is preparing for potential unrest, with increased security measures and a request for additional police personnel. Authorities have deployed over 10,700 police officers across Punjab and are equipped with anti-riot gear. The Islamabad High Court has instructed officials to ensure protests remain lawful and to engage with PTI leaders to avoid conflicts.
