Punjab DWP allocates Rs 57.38 billion for development projects
The Provincial Development Working Party (DWP) has approved funding of Rs 57.38 billion for various development projects in Punjab. This decision was made during a meeting on Thursday, led by Barrister Nabeel Ahmed Awan, the Chairman of the Planning & Development Board. A significant portion of the budget, Rs 27.49 billion, will go towards the Punjab Chief Minister Laptop Scheme. Other important projects include Rs 9.17 billion for a new University of Child Health Sciences in Lahore and Rs 1.2 billion for a multi-storey court building in Sheikhupura. Additionally, Rs 9.59 billion has been allocated for stations of the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority. The construction of the Punjab Revenue Authority headquarters in Lahore will receive Rs 4.41 billion, while Rs 1.73 billion will be used for setting up material testing laboratories in Gujranwala and Sialkot. Moreover, Rs 2.16 billion will be directed toward establishing aquaculture malls, and Rs 2.26 billion is approved for upgrading outpatient department blocks in Tertiary Care Hospitals. The Punjab government, which is led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has also relaunched the laptop scheme as part of its initiatives. Registration for the "CM Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025" is now open.
