Punjab government cracks down on drugs and corruption
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann emphasized his government's commitment to fighting drugs and corruption during an event in Ludhiana. He spoke about the need to honor the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the importance of improving education, health, and power for the people of Punjab. Mann noted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is focused on the welfare of common citizens. He claimed that traditional political parties paid little attention to these issues before AAP's rise. He highlighted the significant support AAP received from voters in the 2022 assembly elections. The Chief Minister criticized past governments for supporting drug-related activities. He declared that his administration is now actively combating the drug trade, with plans to dismantle supply lines and imprison those involved. Mann mentioned recent actions to destroy properties linked to drug trafficking, stating that community involvement is crucial for these efforts. Mann also addressed corruption within government offices. He assured that officials linked to dishonest practices are being reassigned. He condemned any pressure tactics that harm the public and stated that such actions will not be tolerated. During his speech, Mann paid tribute to revolutionary Kartar Singh Sarabha and criticized previous leaders for mismanaging Punjab. He shared details of actions taken against drug smugglers, including a successful raid in Narangwal village that received positive local support. The Chief Minister concluded by celebrating the achievements of Punjabis in sports and reaffirming the government's dedication to creating a drug-free state.
