Punjab government denies PTI rally request for security reasons

The Punjab government has rejected a request from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on March 22. This decision was announced on Friday. The Lahore High Court, led by Justice Farooq Haider, dismissed the PTI's request due to security concerns. A report from the deputy commissioner of Lahore highlighted the current security situation in the country as a key reason for the rejection. The report mentioned recent terrorist attacks, including one in Bannu Cantt and another involving the Jaffer Express. It also noted a specific threat alert concerning a trained group of 76 terrorists who could potentially target public events. In light of these concerns, Justice Haider stated that PTI has the option to challenge the deputy commissioner's decision in court.
