Punjab grants ownership rights to rural "lal dora" occupants
Punjab Revenue Minister Hardip Singh Mundian announced that the "Mera Ghar Mere Naam" scheme is ongoing. This initiative aims to give ownership rights to people living in "lal dora" areas of rural Punjab. The minister expects the project to be completed by next year. Mundian explained that this scheme is a central government effort to provide legal ownership of properties in village areas. It also includes creating computerized records and GIS maps of these regions. The Survey of India is using drone technology to prepare these maps, and a new software portal has been developed for the project. In other news, the Punjab government has approved the construction of a bypass in Jalalabad city to reduce traffic congestion. PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO informed the assembly that the bypass will be 8.75 km long and 5.5 m wide. It will connect key roads to improve traffic flow. Minister Goyal mentioned that efforts are underway to provide canal water for irrigation to 75 villages in Ropar district. A feasibility study is being reviewed by senior officials, and further actions will follow based on technical feasibility and available funds. Tourism Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond emphasized the state's commitment to preserving its historical sites. If Bathinda officials propose to develop Bathinda lakes into a tourist hub, the government will give it priority. Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan suggested creating a comprehensive plan to enhance tourism in Punjab, noting the state's beautiful landscapes and cultural heritage.
