Punjab Kings set record by buying Shreyas Iyer for INR 26.75 crore at IPL auction

Punjab Kings (PBKS) made headlines by purchasing Shreyas Iyer for INR 26.75 crore during the IPL mega auction. This bid set a new record, just minutes after Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) acquired Rishabh Pant for INR 27 crore. The previous record was held by Kolkata Knight Riders, who paid INR 24.75 crore for Mitchell Starc. Both PBKS and LSG needed new captains, and Iyer and Pant are expected to fill those roles. PBKS also secured Arshdeep Singh for INR 18 crore, making him the first player sold at the auction. Rajasthan Royals lost out on Jos Buttler, who was bought by Gujarat Titans for INR 15.75 crore.
