Punjab launches ₹40 crore project for modern street development
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced a ₹40 crore project to develop world-class streets in cities across the state. The initial phase will focus on Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar, transforming 42 km of streets. The project includes redesigning roads to improve traffic flow, standardizing road widths, and enhancing drainage systems. It also aims to create accessible footpaths and improve street aesthetics with landscaping and better services. The initiative will be implemented in three phases: design, construction over eight months, and a ten-year maintenance plan by contractors to ensure quality and upkeep.
