Punjab police arrest drug cartel member with heroin and firearm
Police in Amritsar, Punjab, have dismantled a cross-border drug cartel. They arrested a man named Dharminder Singh, also known as Sonu, who is a resident of Harsha Chhena village. The police seized 8.08 kg of heroin, a .30-bore pistol, and five cartridges during the arrest. Punjab's police chief, Gaurav Yadav, shared that Singh was connected to smugglers using drones to drop drugs from across the border. Authorities have also seized a car used for drug deliveries. Investigations are ongoing to find more people involved in the operation. Inspector Ranjit Singh Dhaliwal led the team that captured Singh near a mental hospital in Amritsar. Police have identified one of Singh's accomplices and are working to uncover the entire drug network. In a separate case, police arrested three people, including two women, for possession of 10 pistols and 2 kg of heroin in Bharopal village. The Amritsar rural police acted on intelligence to make these arrests. A hunt is underway for three more suspects involved in this incident.
