Punjab youth cremated after dying en route to US
A 24-year-old man from Derabassi, Punjab, died while trying to reach the US through a dangerous route. Randeep's body was cremated in his village of Sheikhpur Kalan on Wednesday. He died on February 21 in Cambodia. Randeep’s family paid a travel agent 25 lakh rupees to help him on the journey. They planned to pay a total of 40 lakh rupees. Randeep left home for the US in June but faced many delays. The agent moved him between Vietnam and Cambodia instead of taking him to the US. These shifts occurred after the US government increased measures against illegal immigration. His brother, Ravi, said the agent did not return their money when problems arose. Without proper medical care, Randeep's health worsened until he died in Cambodia. Local politician Kuljit Singh Randhawa and others attended the funeral.
