Punjab's anti-drug campaign results in significant arrests
Punjab's anti-drug initiative has led to the registration of 1,572 FIRs and the arrest of 2,364 drug peddlers, according to Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema. This marks a significant development in the state's fight against narcotics. The campaign has resulted in the seizure of large quantities of illegal drugs, including 90kg of heroin and 51kg of opium. Authorities also confiscated ₹63 lakh in cash linked to drug trafficking. Cheema criticized previous governments for neglecting the drug issue and announced the demolition of properties worth crores linked to 33 traffickers. This aims to disrupt drug networks in Punjab.
