Putin showcases new missile as Russia targets facility in Ukraine
Russia has launched a new intermediate-range ballistic missile, named "Oreshnik," targeting a military facility in Dnipro, Ukraine. This marks the first use of such a missile in the ongoing conflict, with President Putin claiming it travels at Mach 10, evading Western defenses. Putin stated the missile was developed in response to U.S. missile deployments and emphasized its capability to carry multiple warheads. He warned that Russia would respond to Western military actions against it, framing the missile's use as a necessary measure amid escalating tensions. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy condemned the attack, accusing Russia of using Ukraine for weapon testing. U.S. officials noted that Russia has only a limited number of these missiles and does not plan to deploy them regularly against Ukraine.
