Qatar Airways Cargo to boost India operations significantly
Qatar Airways Cargo plans to expand its operations in India, which currently accounts for about 10% of its global revenue. The company expects revenue growth of 9-12% in the next fiscal year due to rising demand for perishables and pharmaceuticals. Despite this growth, Qatar Airways faces challenges from restrictive bilateral agreements that limit passenger belly cargo and potential US tariffs on Indian pharmaceutical exports. These tariffs could impact the volume of cargo shipped between the two countries. Currently, Qatar Airways Cargo transports around 2,700 tonnes of cargo weekly to and from India, operating nearly 100 flights each week. Pharmaceuticals make up 15% of its cargo volume, while perishables account for 70%.
