QRave promotes inclusivity for women and queer DJs
QRave, a club night focused on queer and women DJs, is coming to Bengaluru for the first time on March 21. The event features artists Kandy Kuri, Pardafash, and Chutney Mary as DJs. Founded in Goa in December 2023 by Avril Unger, known as Chutney Mary, and Aadhi, known as Mo'Homo, QRave has hosted six successful events in Goa. Chutney Mary shared that the club night aims to provide a platform for women and queer DJs in a music scene often dominated by men. Chutney explains that creating a safe space is a priority. Staff are trained to ensure a welcoming environment for queer and trans audiences. For the Bengaluru event, she plans to play tracks by queer and trans artists, including genres like footwork and electropop. Pardafash, another DJ at the event, highlights the growing visibility of women and queer musicians in electronic music. She plans to showcase a variety of genres, including experimental electronic and dance music. Pardafash is excited about the opportunity to DJ in front of a diverse crowd. QRave's Bengaluru show will take place at The Burrow on Crescent Road, and tickets can be purchased online.
