Quantum dots improve TV colors, not monitors
Quantum dots enhance color in TVs, especially in QD-OLED and QD-Mini LED models. While some OLED TVs use quantum dots, many do not. A 2020 OLED TV already offers a wide color gamut, so an upgrade may not be necessary. Monitors typically lack glossy screens due to glare issues in bright environments. They also tend to be less bright than TVs because they are designed for close viewing and often lack advanced picture processing. This makes them less suitable for high brightness. Samsung's QD-OLED TVs do not support Dolby Vision, but users can work around DTS audio issues by connecting devices through an AVR or soundbar. While lacking Dolby Vision may seem limiting, many TVs still perform well without it.
