Two former junior hockey players from Quebec will serve prison time after a court upheld their sentences for sexually assaulting a girl in 2021. Massimo Siciliano and Nicolas Daigle are set to begin their sentences of 30 months and 32 months, respectively. The assaults took place on June 5, 2021, in a hotel after the Victoriaville team celebrated winning a championship. The victim, a 17-year-old girl, reported being assaulted by both players. Daigle also filmed the assault without her consent. Defense lawyers argued that the players should qualify for community service due to their ages. However, the Court of Appeal denied this request. Both players were released in 2024 while appealing their sentences but must now report to custody by March 26 at 4 p.m.
