Raiders aim to improve offensive line with Hernandez signing
The Las Vegas Raiders are looking to improve their roster after a disappointing 2024 season, where they finished with a 4-13 record. Changes have been made in the coaching staff, with new head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek now leading the team. One key area that needs improvement is the offensive line. The Raiders have traded for quarterback Geno Smith, which means they need strong protection for him. With Andre James leaving the team, Jackson Powers-Johnson is expected to take over the center position. Jordan Meredith and Alex Cappa are currently set as the starting guards. Recently, ESPN reported that guard Will Hernandez could be a good fit for the Raiders. Hernandez is 29 years old and previously played for the New York Giants before moving to the Arizona Cardinals. He has experience as a starter, but a leg injury limited him to only five games last season. Hernandez played reasonably well when healthy, earning a 69.3 overall grade from Pro Football Focus. If he joins the Raiders, he could compete with Cappa for the right guard position, potentially strengthening their offensive line as they head into the 2025 season.
