Raiders trade for Geno Smith; Carroll named head coach
The Las Vegas Raiders have made significant changes to their offense this offseason. They have traded for quarterback Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks. Additionally, they have hired Pete Carroll as their new head coach. Carroll has a strong track record and is considered one of the best coaches in the NFL. Smith and Carroll’s reunion in Las Vegas may not be the only one. The Raiders are looking to strengthen their running back position after naming Raheem Mostert as their top running back. Kenneth Walker, currently with the Seahawks, could be a good fit for the team. He played some of his best football under Carroll, and he is just 24 years old. A trade proposal suggests that the Raiders could acquire Walker for a sixth-round pick in the 2025 draft. Carroll might reach out to Seattle since Walker’s performance has declined recently due to injuries. Last season, Walker had 1,050 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, showing he has the potential to be a standout player. The Raiders currently have some concerns in their backfield. Mostert is nearing 33 years old, and Sincere McCormick, who showed promise, is still recovering from an injury. Bringing in Walker could help the Raiders improve their offense significantly. While they will still need to add more wide receivers, this move could signify a positive direction for a team that has had its struggles recently.
