Rail users in Visakhapatnam demand more frequent trains
Rail users in Visakhapatnam are calling for more frequent trains from Visakhapatnam Junction. Currently, many long-distance trains run weekly, causing passengers to wait too long for return trips, especially to destinations without direct flights. The demand for these trains has been high for over a decade. Recent data shows that occupancy rates for popular routes have exceeded 160%, with waiting lists growing significantly. Passengers express frustration over the lack of options for timely travel. Members of the Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee highlight the need for increased train frequency. They argue that more daily services would better serve the growing number of passengers and improve railway revenue.
