MoS (railways) Ravneet Singh Bittu made a quick stop at Mohali and Chandigarh railway stations on Monday. He was traveling from Ludhiana to New Delhi on the MP Special Train. During his visit to Mohali station, he reviewed the ongoing upgrade work and expressed satisfaction with the progress. The upgrade at Mohali station costs Rs 1.6 crore and is part of the Railways' Amrit Bharat Station Development Scheme. This initiative aims to improve railway stations across the country in a long-term manner. Bittu appreciated the station's new design, which reflects the Amb Sahib Gurdwara's façade, adding a touch of regional heritage. The renovation includes new platform surfaces, separate pathways, and upgraded waiting halls. There are newly renovated public toilets and better parking spaces for different types of vehicles. A new 12-meter-wide foot overbridge has also been built, along with a green park featuring a 100-foot-high national flag. Additionally, facilities for specially-abled passengers will be improved in line with standard guidelines. The lighting at the station is being upgraded to combine traditional and modern styles. After Mohali, Bittu arrived at Chandigarh station, where he met railway officials. He received updates on the world-class station project, which is 75% complete. The Chandigarh station is also part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with a redevelopment budget of Rs 436 crore. Bittu praised the efforts of the BJP government under PM Narendra Modi to enhance passenger services. After a 15-minute visit, the train continued its journey to New Delhi.
