Rain and snow showers returning to Northern California

Clouds and wind speeds are increasing in Northern California as rain and snow showers approach. Southerly winds may gust up to 45 mph this afternoon. Rain and snow will begin near sunset, mainly north of I-80. Rainfall in the Sacramento Valley is expected to be under 0.75 inches, while the Foothills could see up to 2.5 inches. Snow levels will start at 6,500 feet, dropping to 4,500 feet by Monday. Up to 18 inches of snow is possible near Donner Summit and 20 inches near Sonora Pass by Monday evening. Skies will clear Monday night.
