Rajamouli shares profits instead of taking salaries

Producer Dil Raju is handling the Telugu distribution of the upcoming Malayalam film L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and starring Mohanlal. Both Mohanlal and Sukumaran have decided not to take any upfront payment for the film. Instead, they will receive a share of the profits. During a press event, Raju discussed whether Tollywood could learn from the profit-sharing model used in Malayalam cinema. He mentioned that renowned director Rajamouli also follows this approach, taking a cut from profits instead of a fixed fee. He noted that other directors, like Prashanth Neel, are adopting similar practices. Raju also commented on the growing budgets in the film industry, which are often due to high fees demanded by directors. He emphasized the unity of cinema, stating that today's films are part of a global industry. Mohanlal added that audiences are open to accepting films from different languages and cultures. He encouraged viewers to watch L2: Empuraan, just as he enjoyed the Telugu film Pushpa.
