Rajasthan court reinstates public works employee's pay raise

The Rajasthan High Court has revoked a government order that halted a salary increase for a public works department employee. The decision was made on March 18, 2025, in response to a legal challenge from Shambhu Dayal Sahu. Sahu's pay raise was stopped on March 15, 2018, because he was considered hostile during an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) case. His lawyer, Harsh Vardhan Nandwana, argued that Sahu was made a government witness but did not support the prosecution's case, leading to the order against him. The court ruled that the government must restore Sahu's salary increment and pay him all benefits within three months. The government opposed the petition, stating that Sahu's role as a main witness in the ACB case justified the decision to stop his pay raise.
