Rajasthan ministers assigned to oversee municipal mergers

Jaipur: A meeting was held on Thursday to discuss the reorganisation of municipal bodies in the state. The meeting was led by Urban Development and Housing Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra. Senior officials reviewed how the reorganisation process is progressing. They agreed that the work should be completed by May 31. The reorganisation is part of a larger initiative called ‘One State, One Election’. Kharra mentioned that many proposals have been received, but some more documents are needed. Officials have been told to gather these documents. The proposals will be looked at again in the next meeting. One major topic was the merger of municipal corporations. Kharra confirmed that these corporations will be merged once their current terms end. He has already approved this move. To address any public concerns, ministers have been assigned to specific areas. Suresh Rawat will focus on Ajmer and Jodhpur, while Sanjay Sharma will look after Jaipur and Bharatpur. Gautam Kumar will handle Udaipur and Kota. These ministers will meet with local representatives and citizens to collect feedback. They are expected to submit their reports by March 27. Kharra stated that the reorganisation should be finished by June 30 to prepare for the upcoming census.
