Members of the Rajiv Rahadari Properties Owners Joint Action Committee (JAC) met with Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durishetty on Saturday. They expressed concerns about a proposed road widening project. The plan is to expand the road to 200 feet, but the committee wants it reduced to 100 feet to prevent displacement of families. JAC Chairman Telukunta Satish Gupta and other members shared their worries. They pointed out that thousands could lose their homes if the project goes ahead as planned. The committee believes that a 100-foot widening would be less disruptive and more practical for residents. They also raised issues related to the ongoing road expansion. Many tenants have already been forced to leave their homes, causing significant inconvenience. Adding to their struggles, a recent increase in property taxes has created further financial strain for affected residents. In their meeting, the JAC requested that the Collector roll back the tax hike and suspend tax collection until the road work is finished. They also mentioned that the electricity department is pressuring residents to install individual transformers, which adds another financial burden. The committee asked the Collector to intervene and stop these demands from the electricity department.
