Ranchi dams assured sufficient water supply this summer

Ranchi officials announced that the city's water supply will be stable throughout the summer. The three local dams — Kanke, Getalsud, and Hatia — have enough water to meet the needs of about 1.5 million residents. The Getalsud Dam is the main supplier, providing water to almost 80% of households. Currently, Kanke Dam's water level is 2,123 feet, which is higher than last year. It can deliver 16 million liters of water daily and will continue to do so until September 20, even without rain. Getalsud Dam's level is a bit lower at 1,924 feet, but officials say it can supply water until July. This dam delivers 180 million liters each day. Hatia Dam is also in good shape, with a level of 2,191.8 feet and a supply of 42 million liters per day. It can maintain water flow until June. However, rainfall has been low. The India Meteorological Department reported just 4.5 mm of rain in Ranchi since March 1, with no rain recorded in the city during this time.
