Ranchi extends holding tax payment deadline to March 31
The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has extended the deadline for holding tax payments for the 2024-25 fiscal year. To help property owners, civic centers will remain open during holidays, including March 30 and 31 for Eid. Taxpayers can pay their dues at designated centers or online at www.ranchimunicipal.com. Those who do not clear their dues by March 31 will face penalties. The charges are 1% for the first week, 2% for the second week, 3% after one month, and 5% after two months. Failure to comply may result in legal action. Assistant municipal commissioner Chandradeep Kumar reported that over Rs 2 lakh were collected during a previous campaign. Two unlicensed businesses were sealed, and notices were issued to defaulters. The RMC has so far collected Rs 74 crore against a target of Rs 83 crore for this fiscal year. They have also served notices to 1,200 property owners, focusing on 100 major defaulters.
