Rangers deployed in Punjab districts ahead of PTI protest on November 24
The Punjab Home Department has requested the deployment of Rangers in Rawalpindi, Attock, and Jhelum ahead of a nationwide protest by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on November 24. Rangers will be stationed in Rawalpindi and Attock from November 22, and in Jhelum from November 22 to 27. This decision follows the Islamabad administration's earlier imposition of Section 144, banning public gatherings of five or more people. Over 10,700 police personnel are on standby in Punjab, with additional forces requested from other regions. The federal government is preparing for the protest, which PTI founder Imran Khan has called in response to alleged election rigging and arrests of party workers. Security measures, including sealing off parts of Islamabad, are being implemented to maintain order during this period.
