Rangers' Miller and Fox reunited for warmups Thursday
K’Andre Miller and Adam Fox skated together for the first time in months during warmups before the Rangers' game against the Maple Leafs. However, during the game, they were not a traditional pairing. Miller played with Will Borgen, while Fox was paired with Carson Soucy. The two only skated together during offensive plays, totaling 7:28 of game time as a pair in the Rangers' 4-3 loss. Despite their previous success as a duo earlier in the season, Miller and Fox were on the ice for two goals against in this game. Head coach Peter Laviolette explained that he adjusts pairings based on game situations and opponent strategies. He has recently favored using Miller and Fox together in critical late-game moments, as they had performed well together before. Before the game against the Maple Leafs, Miller and Fox played a total of 290 minutes together at even strength, outscoring opponents 17-10. They also outshot their opponents significantly. Fox, who recently returned from injury, noted that changing partners doesn’t usually impact team chemistry during games. Additionally, the Rangers announced plans to celebrate their 100th anniversary during the upcoming 2025-26 season. They unveiled a special logo that reflects the team's long history. Rangers president Chris Drury emphasized the significance of the franchise in professional sports, and the logo design honors the team's roots. In lineup changes, Brennan Othmann returned to the fourth line due to Matt Rempe being sick. Jonny Brodzinski moved to the third line, and defenseman Urho Vaakanainen was a healthy scratch for the first time in over a month.
