Raspberry Pi 5 connects to powerful GPU, runs games like Crysis and Doom Eternal
Jeff Geerling successfully connected an AMD RX 6700 XT graphics card to a Raspberry Pi 5, enabling it to run games in 4K resolution. However, performance for demanding games like Doom Eternal and Crysis Remastered was limited to 20-30 frames per second. In contrast, the Raspberry Pi 5 performed well with less demanding games such as Portal 2 and SuperTuxKart, showing its potential as an affordable gaming setup. The project highlights the capabilities of the Raspberry Pi 5, despite its CPU and RAM limitations. Geerling's setup can support up to six external monitors, although not for 3D gaming. The recent development of AMD Linux drivers may lead to further improvements in performance for gaming on this platform.
