Record 922 runners joining Allentown's St. Patrick's 5K

A record 922 runners are set to take part in the 15th annual West End St. Patrick’s 5K race in Allentown. The race will happen this Sunday, starting at noon. Runners come from 11 different states, eager for some luck of the Irish. The race begins in front of Memorial Hall on Liberty Street. Runners will follow a specific route that includes turns on North Albright Avenue, Tilghman Street, and North 25th Street. Spectators can park on the street along the route. Participants are encouraged to wear St. Patrick’s-themed outfits. Each runner's race bib will have an Irish flair, with an "O’" added before their last name. The race helps support the West End Alliance, which aims to enhance the Allentown West End Theatre District. The event has returned this year after being canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. Major sponsors include St. Luke’s University Health Network, Muhlenberg College, and QNB.
