Record-high 46% of Americans want more Ukraine support
A new poll shows that a record number of Americans feel the U.S. is not doing enough to support Ukraine. This marks an increase of 16 percentage points since December. According to the Gallup survey, 46% of Americans believe the U.S. should offer more help, while 30% think it is providing too much assistance. Only 23% feel the current level of support is appropriate. This rise in support comes as President Trump aims to reduce U.S. involvement in the conflict. Trump recently restored military aid to Ukraine after a brief pause. He has also been in discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding a cease-fire. Last week, Ukraine agreed to a 30-day cease-fire, pushed by the Trump administration, to help facilitate negotiations. The survey indicates that both Democrats and Independents have shown a significant increase in the desire for more U.S. support. Seventy-nine percent of Democrats believe the U.S. isn't doing enough, a jump of 31 points since December. Among Independents, 46% agree, up by 14 points. Republican views on the issue have remained steady. Many Americans are concerned about the war's outcome. A large majority, 63%, feel that neither Russia nor Ukraine is winning the conflict. The survey found that 53% support Ukraine's efforts to reclaim territories taken by Russia. Meanwhile, 45% want a quicker resolution to the war, similar to what Trump is advocating. The Gallup poll was conducted from March 3 to 11, sampling 2,219 adults. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
