Red Sox option reliever Luis Guerrero to Triple-A Worcester
The Boston Red Sox have sent reliever Luis Guerrero to Triple-A Worcester after he struggled with his pitching. Guerrero had a strong start in spring training, showing his powerful fastball and striking out six batters in three innings. However, his performance changed as he faced more batters. In his last four games, he walked eight players and allowed six runs over just 2 2/3 innings. Manager Alex Cora described Guerrero's pitching as "erratic" and noted he struggled to throw strikes. Despite the setback, Guerrero remained positive. He acknowledged the need to improve and is determined to work hard to return. Last year, he excelled in the big leagues, allowing no earned runs in ten innings. Cora emphasized that young players sometimes feel nervous during spring training. He believes it’s essential to encourage them to relax and focus on their game. The organization is confident Guerrero will develop further in Worcester and regain his control on the mound.
