Red Sox preview opening-day lineup against Pirates

Triston Casas and Trevor Story also made the lineup, among others. Recent reports suggest that Kristian Campbell has won the competition for second base, a key focus during spring training. Bregman is set to play third base while Devers transitions to a full-time designated hitter role. There is still some debate on whether star prospect Marcelo Mayer might be the better choice for second base on opening day. The Red Sox will finish their spring training with games against the Tampa Bay Rays and the Minnesota Twins. They will then travel to Mexico for an exhibition series before moving on to Texas for the season opener.
