Red Sox will not use first base platoon system
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora has confirmed that first baseman Triston Casas will not be part of a platoon system. Cora stated that Casas will be in the starting lineup against both left-handed and right-handed pitchers. This decision reflects the team's commitment to Casas' growth as a player. Casas has recently played against top left-handed pitchers, including Chris Sale and Max Fried. His consistent playing time is aimed at helping him gain experience and confidence in the major leagues. Cora believes that regular play without platooning is essential for Casas’ development. Despite having a slight edge in performance against right-handed pitchers, Casas has shown he can handle lefties as well. His career stats show better numbers against righties, but he is working on improving his consistency against left-handers. The Red Sox are optimistic about his potential as he continues to develop his skills.
