Regé-Jean Page stars in new Count of Monte Cristo
Regé-Jean Page, known for his role in "Bridgerton," will take the lead in a new movie adaptation of "The Count of Monte Cristo." He will also produce the film through his company, A Mighty Stranger. This movie is based on Alexandre Dumas’ famous novel from 1846. Page has recently been seen in the spy thriller "Black Bag." He is also set to lead a new series inspired by "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." He expressed his passion for storytelling, emphasizing the importance of heartfelt narratives and cultural representation in entertainment. The screenplay for this adaptation will be written by Patrick Ness. The film will be produced by Mike Larocca, Michael Schaefer, and Emily Brown, along with Youtchi von Lintel. This marks Page's first project as a producer after gaining fame from "Bridgerton." The original novel tells the story of a man seeking revenge after being wrongfully imprisoned. It has been made into films and TV shows many times since its release. Notable adaptations include the 2002 film starring Jim Caviezel and the earlier 1999 version featuring Joseph Fiennes.
