Rege-Jean Page to produce 'The Count of Monte Cristo' film

Rege-Jean Page, known for his role in "Bridgerton," will star in and produce a new film adaptation of "The Count of Monte Cristo." This project is based on the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas. The story focuses on a young sailor who is wrongly accused of treason. After spending years in prison, he escapes and seeks revenge on those who betrayed him. Eventually, he becomes the wealthy Count of Monte Cristo. This adaptation will be produced by Department M, a studio founded by experienced producers Mike Larocca and Michael Schaefer. There have been other film adaptations of Dumas' novel, including a version released in 2002 starring Guy Pearce and Jim Caviezel. Rege-Jean Page expressed his enthusiasm for the project. He said he loves bold storytelling that has heart. He believes this adaptation will present Dumas' work in new and exciting ways. Page's other recent work includes the film "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" and the series "For the People." He was also recently seen in "Black Bag," directed by Steven Soderbergh, which has received positive reviews.
