Reggie Barlow becomes head coach at Tennessee State

Reggie Barlow has left his role as head coach of the D.C. Defenders in the UFL to become the new head coach at Tennessee State. The move comes after a series of coaching changes in the football world, triggered by Kellen Moore's appointment as head coach of the New Orleans Saints. During his time with the Defenders, Barlow achieved a record of 13 wins and 7 losses over two seasons. He was also recognized as the XFL coach of the year in 2023. His departure means the UFL now has one less head coach as the spring league prepares to kick off its 2025 season. Shannon Harris, who was the quarterbacks coach for the Defenders, has been promoted to interim coach for the upcoming season. There was some speculation that the position might go to Gregg Williams, the team’s defensive coordinator and a veteran in NFL coaching. The D.C. Defenders are set to play against the Birmingham Stallions next Sunday at 3:00 p.m. ET. The Stallions have won multiple championships in recent years, including titles in the USFL and UFL.
