Regional Cancer Centre adopts Surface-guided Radiation Therapy
The Regional Cancer Centre has introduced Surface-guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT) to improve cancer treatment. This technology tracks a patient's surface during radiation, ensuring precise targeting and enhancing safety. SGRT is applicable for various cancers, including breast and brain cancer. It minimizes exposure to healthy tissues and can eliminate the need for traditional tattoos used to mark treatment areas. This facility is the first government center to implement SGRT, according to Health Minister Veena George. The new system aims to reduce treatment errors and improve patient outcomes.
