Remains of British climber Andrew Irvine found on Everest after 100 years
A team filming a National Geographic documentary, including Oscar-winner Jimmy Chin, has discovered the remains of Andrew Irvine, a British climber who vanished on Mount Everest in 1924. The find includes a foot encased in a sock and boot. The remains were located on the Central Rongbuk Glacier, at a lower altitude than the remains of his climbing partner, George Mallory, found in 1999. The China Tibet Mountaineering Association now holds the remains, which have been identified by a name stitched into the sock. Irvine's family has been informed and is willing to conduct DNA tests to confirm his identity. The discovery marks a significant development in the long history of Everest expeditions.
