Renowned Odia poet Ramakanta Rath dies at 90

Renowned Odia poet Ramakanta Rath passed away at his home in Bhubaneswar on Sunday at the age of 90. His last rites will be held on Monday in Puri Swargadwar, according to family sources. Rath, a Padma Bhushan awardee, was a significant figure in Indian literature and served as a bureaucrat. He is survived by three daughters and a son. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed their condolences. Rath's contributions to Odia literature include several acclaimed poetry collections. He received multiple awards throughout his career, including the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship and the Sarala Award.
