Request for multilingual signboards in Kanniyakumari

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is asking the local government to install multilingual signboards in Kanniyakumari. These signboards would help guide both domestic and international tourists to important sites in the area. P. Manikandan, a CPI(M) official, noted that many tourists struggle to find key locations like the boat jetty, Tsunami memorial, and Gandhi Memorial due to a lack of clear signage. This issue often leads tourists to rely on untrustworthy local guides who may charge excessive fees. Manikandan emphasized the need for signboards at strategic points to improve the visitor experience and protect Kanniyakumari's reputation. He also suggested adding a sign at Kottaram Junction to direct tourists to Vattakottai. Additionally, Manikandan submitted a separate request to prevent fires in Marunthavaazhmalai on the Nagercoil-Kanniyakumari highway. He proposed creating a "herbal garden" in the area since many devotees visit the shrine there.
