Around 200 residents in Bhavani, along with members of the Communist Party of India (CPI), protested outside the municipal office on Tuesday. They were urging local authorities to speed up the AMRUT drinking water project. This project, which started in January 2023, was supposed to solve water issues in the area and was set to be completed within a year. However, 26 months later, the project is still not finished. V Matheswaran, a local resident, noted that much of the work is still incomplete. Residents voiced their frustration over regular disruptions in water supply. In addition to water issues, they also raised concerns about poor road conditions in the town. Another issue discussed was the need to move a vegetable market located near a crematorium back to its original site near the bus stand. The current location lacks adequate public transport options. Municipal officials assured the residents that they would look into these matters promptly. After receiving this promise, the protesters dispersed after a two-hour demonstration.
