Restored version of Manthan to air on Doordarshan in tribute to director Shyam Benegal

The restored version of the film *Manthan* will be aired on Doordarshan on January 1, 2025, at 8 p.m. This screening honors director Shyam Benegal, who passed away on December 23, 2024, at the age of 90. *Manthan*, released in 1976, tells the story of a young veterinary doctor working to establish a milk cooperative in India. The film was funded by contributions from 500,000 farmers, highlighting grassroots support. The restoration was completed by the Film Heritage Foundation and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. This special screening allows viewers to experience a significant piece of Indian cinema.
