Rhode Island had highest gambling spending in 2023

A recent study shows that Rhode Island had the highest gambling expenditure in the United States in 2023. The research, conducted by an online gambling website, looked at spending per person. This means the total money spent was compared to the state's population. The data was gathered from the American Gaming Association’s report on commercial casino spending. According to this study, Rhode Island's casinos generated over $700 million in revenue for the year. On average, each resident spent around $424 on gambling. In contrast, the average American only spent about $57 at casinos in 2023. Rhode Island has two casinos: Bally's Twin River in Lincoln and Bally's in Tiverton.
