Ridley Scott explains why Nick Cave's Gladiator 2 script was not produced
Ridley Scott recently explained why Nick Cave's unconventional script for "Gladiator 2" was not produced. The script featured a resurrected Maximus navigating the afterlife, but both Scott and Russell Crowe found the concept too grand and ultimately rejected it. Scott had previously considered ways to bring back Maximus, but discussions with Crowe did not lead to a viable solution. Cave, who enjoyed writing the script, acknowledged it was unlikely to be made. The new "Gladiator 2," which focuses on Maximus' son Lucius seeking revenge, has been released in UK cinemas and received a positive response, scoring 76% on Rotten Tomatoes.
